The Turkish proverb “Bir lisan bir insan; ki lisan iki insan” provides a comprehensive justification for studying Turkish or any other language. In other words, as one learns about other people’s cultures and ways of life, one who speaks one language is considered to be one person, and one who speaks two languages is considered to be two persons.
